In the US, electrical service contractors give different service solutions for commercial industries and residential electrical services.

Commercial Electrical Contractors are very important especially for the construction industry. They are responsible for wiring and other electrical installations for businesses, factories, and plants. Normally, contractors (sometimes just referred to in the old school as "electricians") get together for a new construction project and take time to study the blueprints for the proposed building. They then do bidding until a contract winner emerges.

The winning bidder then begins electrical work on the project. This includes all installation of electrical systems, wiring, and rewiring of electric circuits for the whole building. The contractor is also responsible for creating electrical blueprints to show all electrical panels, circuit breakers, outlets, and switches. Much work goes into electrical installations since their work needs to be coordinated with the building construction, especially where walls are concerned. Appropriate tools are used by the contractor, including, but not limited to the usual saws, drills, staple guns, screwdriver sets, and small power augers. After all wiring is installed, the electricians then use voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other testing equipment to make sure everything is working properly and safely.

Other major commercial electrical services provided can be lighting retrofit, circuit breaker replacements, ballast replacement, computer circuits, dedicated circuits, exit lighting, emergency lighting, grounding, and installing generators.

A residential electrical contractor, on the other hand, initiate services for residences in need of ceiling fan wiring, ceiling fan lights, replacing circuit breakers, electrical wiring for ovens, cook top, or dryer, flood motion lights, hot tub or spa wiring, and light switches, just to name a few. Contractors can also bid to work on new residential home, unless the construction contractor is permanently contracting the said electrical contractor. Rewiring of an old home is also one service provided, as well as home networks and control relay wiring, cable TV outlets, and intercom systems.

Though an electrical contractor and electrician are sometimes called these interchangeably, there is a marked difference between them. Usually, the electrical contractor is the proprietor of the electrical services company. This company then has a team of electrician employees. Normally, most contractors are also electricians and are also part of the team doing the hands-on work.

Some electrical service companies may specialize in heavy electrical services such as installing control panels, automated systems, machines, and other heavy equipment.

Like fire, electricity can be man's friend, or it can prove fatal if mishandled. A single mistake by an individual electrician can cause serious injury, or worse, a fatality. All electricians must be fully educated and skilled in handling tools properly. They enroll, apprentice, do job training, and then graduate from a trade school.
In Phoenix, Arizona, you can always depend on Harmon Electric, Inc., the best Phoenix electrical contractorcompany. They have the most professional and highly trained electricians to do all the work mentioned above.
